I do know any better. I read the whole IPCC AR4 when it came out, and I've kept up with things to a reasonable extent. What you say does not match what I've observed. It is true that they don't spend much time on outliers, but it is not true from what I've seen that the consensus is reached in the way you describe.
Indeed, the whole endeavor presents a more complex view than merely a "consensus", which is absolutely necessary, because the topic is complex and some areas have more uncertainty than others.
So, again, can you please quote part of the IPCC AR6 showing a statement where what you charge has been done, and cite where it's from?
