Y'know, as a non-firefighter who has engaged in wildfire suppression activity (as a minor, no less), I think I am qualified to say that you are the one who has missed the point. (The point is that there can be a tension between maximal inclusivity and appropriate recognition.)
Also, "not everyone who can give birth could be referred to as a woman" is just not how language works. They could be. We can define, in the context of talking about birth, that "trans men (who are still biologically capable of giving birth) are women". We have a choice about how we use language.
Ought to be is another matter--but you have to argue that one.
