You don't owe it to them, but when you have the energy you owe it to yourself and to society.

When we have high tolerance for viewpoint diversity, and high tolerance for discussing the diversity of viewpoints, then we can work together towards better understanding how things are.

When we retreat into our own spaces, with our own people affirming our own set of ideas, it is more comfortable--but also more likely to be a comfortable delusion, or at least a comfortable only-part-of-the-truth-and-the-missed-part-is-actually-quite-important-in-practice.

This doesn't mean that one has to engage every time, with every entitled jerk who feels like engaging. Sometimes it's sensible to reject a discussion based on tone, too ("Does the correctness of your views depend on the aggressiveness with which you state your views? If not, why are you yelling?"). But engaging never is also a poor choice.
