You'd think with all this emphasis on procreation, rather than building a mutually supportive society, that the planet was underpopulated or something.

Demographics in many industrialized nations are going to pose some challenges for sure, but overall, we need fewer of us, so even putting aside the ridiculous lines or argumentation (do they forget that humans are a social species and thereby collaborate to raise young?), the goal isn't even right.
