Let's try it this way: women tend to establish hierarchy via social reputation rather than acts of bravado. For men who are already feeling socially vulnerable, this can be daunting, and can carry actual (not just imagined) reputational risks.

Asking men to be more open, without taking measures to mitigate those risks or help men mitigate those risks themselves, is what Rand is arguing against.

Look, here's someone opening up a little about something they phrase as a genuine concern, and what do you do? Attack mode! "If you just want to hate on women...".
